Post 47 Activities:

 
AMVETS Post 47 is growing and growing! Mark your calendars for the Post's January events!
Jan 12 - Steak Supper. $18pp includes all you can eat steak, plus salad, baked potato, green beans, carrots, and bread. Oh...and free draft beer during the meal as well! Stop in and buy your tickets now to reserve your seat!
Jan 14th - Work party Looking for helpers to aid in putting up a roof stucture over a concrete slab for the additional BBQ pit.
Jan 18th - Spaghetti Dinner Riders spaghetti dinner at $8 pp. Can't beat the price and you will get a great meal!
Jan 28th - Hawaiian Night! Surf and Turf (lobster and beef) meal along with a salad and baked potato. $20 for advance ticket, $25 at the door. Wear a Hawaiian shirt and get you first drink free! Music, games and dancing. Trade the cold January night for a great meal with a "warm" setting. Tickets available now at the bar.

Post 47 Provides services to our Veterans and community in the following areas:

Honor Guard:  AMVETS Post # 47, together with AMERICAN LEGION Post # 91, Eastern Ct., Honor Guard is a Department of Defense Military Funeral Honors certified, including firing and graveside services for families of deceased veterans at each military funeral.  The riflemen perform the military funeral custom of firing three (rifle) volleys. The then bugler plays taps.  The Flag of our Country is folded and on behalf of a grateful nation, presented to the next of kin.   This service is available for any veteran upon request by the deceased veteran family.

Pull Tab Program:  Post # 47 with the help of area schoolchildren have been collecting pull tabs from aluminum cans for several years.  The donated monies are then utilized to provide care packages to our service members.

AMVETS Task Force DVD:   We are continuing to collect DVD movies for our troops.  If you have a business, are a member of an organization, church etc., you can request a collection box with information.  Then once full, bring to post 47, so we can ship them out, to provide entertainment for our troops.

Nursing Home and Veteran Hospital Visits:  Second Vice Commander; James Neeland, coordinates visits to area nursing homes to visit veterans. Villa Maria Nursing Home, Plainfield Ct., Village Manor Nursing Home, Plainfield Ct., Pierce Memorial Baptist Home, Brooklyn, Ct.,  Finance Officer; Albert  J. Duff, conducts monthly Bingo games at the Rocky Hill Veteran Home &  Hospital.
