Staff Sgt. Ronald J. Spino - Military Times

45, of Waterbury, Conn.; assigned to the 274th Forward Surgical Team, 44th Medical Command, in Herat, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when he was shot while unloading supplies.

Cpl. Xhacob LaTorre- Hartford Courant

On Monday, in his Texas hospital room, the gravely ill Cpl. Xhacob LaTorre of Waterbury received a Purple Heart for the wounds he suffered in August from a roadside bomb in Afghanistan.

In Bethesda Md died of wounds sustained May 20 when his unit was attacked by enemy forces using indirect fire at Contingency Outpost Xio Haq, Afghanistan

Capt. Benjamin A. Sklaver- Hartford Courant

Capt. Benjamin A. Sklaver of Hamden died Oct. 2, 2009 in an ambush while on patrol in Muscheh, Afghanistan near the Pakistan border. He was 32.
